Divisions
Pre-Competitive Division (all ages)
For dancers at the recreational level, those not quite ready for Division I or not wanting a 1st, 2nd, 3rd standing awarded in the category. Our focus for this division is on FUN! and the experience of being able to dance on the Dance Power stage!
Dancers will receive an individual award for their performance. Dancers in the Pre-Competitive Division do not advance to the Power Championships and are not eligible for overall High Mark Awards.
Competitive Division
This section is for the competitive dancers. Solos, Duos and Trios in the competitive divisions are eligible for High Mark Awards and top 10 awards. Groups in the competitive divisions can cause a POWER SURGE and are eligible to receive High Mark Awards and advance to the Power Championships. Individual medals with ribbons are awarded for performances in Division I and II categories. For Division III and IV categories one group medal will be awarded and individual pins will be awarded to the dancers for solos, duos/trios and groups.
Divisions are based on the hours of training per week across all dance disciplines NOT on the years of training received.
Entry Rules
Entries
Entries are received on a first-come-first-served basis. Please enter early to avoid disappointment! Contestants may enter as many categories as they wish, however, they can not compete against themselves in a solo category. One exception – in the case where contemporary and modern categories are combined into a single contemporary/modern category, for that age and division, a soloist is allowed to compete against themselves. Duos & trios compete in the same category. Late entries will be accepted only if scheduling permits.
Entries will not be accepted at the competitions. Please enter by the deadline date. Dance Power reserves the right to refuse entries.
Solos and Duos/Trios
Dance Power events:
Dancers entered in solos and duos/trios are not required to be entered in a group routine.
Power to the Max events:
Dancers may enter one Power Max solo, one Improv solo and one Student Choreography solo. Additional regular solos, duos/trios may be accepted but groups are given priority and accepted first.
Dancers entered in any solos and duos/trios are required to be entered in at least one group routine.
